ZooLights, Holiday Fun In Phoenix

Over the Thanksgiving weekend I had several out of town guests and wanted to show them a good time Arizona style.  So off we headed to the Phoenix Zoo Lights.  If you have done this in previous years, you know what I am talking about and if you have never visited the Phoenix Zoo during the holiday evenings, you are in for a special treat.  When the sun goes down, the Phoenix Zoo transforms into one of the largest holiday lighting events in the Valley.  There are over 2.5 million lights and over 500 custom made animal light silhouettes.  Did you know it takes a 5 person,  full time crew about 15 weeks to install all these lights?  This year there is a special new resident.  In the new Land of Dragons exhibit there lives a Komodo Dragon.  Try a camel ride, horse and buggy ride or hop on the carousel. My personal favorite was a family photo taken inside Santa’s sleigh.  If you are really lucky, you might catch one of the animals awake…the zebra compound is a good place to try.  Zoo Lights is open nightly from 6-10 pm
