Cut It Now…Or It’ll Burn Later
If You Live on the Preserve or Park Boundary Cut It Now… Or It’ll Burn Later!
Phoenix Fire Department recommends that you create at least a 30 foot safety zone or firebreak around your home.
Additionally, the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department generally will authorize you to remove dry brush and undergrowth up to 10
feet beyond your property on mountain preserve or park property.
What you can do on park property within 10 feet from your property line (requires prior approval):
• You may remove dead or dry grasses and shrubs.
• You may prune and remove dead limbs from trees.
Please . . .
Do not remove any native trees or cacti from park/preserve property.
Do not backwash pools or spas on park property. This can create excessive vegetation growth.
Phoenix city code requires this water to be held on your property or drained into the sanitary sewer or storm drain
When rising temperatures, low humidity and an abundance of drying undergrowth and grass combine to create extreme fire danger in Phoenix mountain preserves and desert parks.
