About Gilbert
Gilbert Arizona is well known as the “best city to raise a family”. Gilbert is not only one of the fastest growing communities in the nation, but it’s also the safest place in the nation, as well. The conscious city and its developers make sure that new developments are family oriented, including sidewalks (which they’ve made sure are wide enough for a couple of strollers side by side) and play areas in malls. The City of Gilbert has even made sure to make it a requirement to build play structures within the communities per number of homes.
Though Gilbert always seemed to be more residential than commercial, businesses are starting to move in, facilitating the city’s growth as an active community where businesses are thriving. The eastern areas of Gilbert still have an abundance of land to develop, currently used mainly for homes with acreage, horse property and agricultural land. Gilbert is still considered a town and not a city despite a population of 146,000+ that as of the 2000 census was the largest town in the nation.
