Glendale Arizona is a suburb located to the northwest of Phoenix, and is home to three of Arizona’s professional sports teams, the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL), the Arizona Sting (NLL), and the Arizona Cardinals (NFL). Its growth as Arizona’s sports town was greatly facilitated by the opening of the Jobing.com Arena in 2003 and University of Phoenix Stadium opened in 2006 (the two are located adjacent to each other), where the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl is held as well. To top things off, the 2008 Super Bowl XLII was held here.

Glendale AZ has a few areas to choose from for newcomers. The south-central area of the city is made up of older, more affordable neighborhoods, and because of the proximity to West Phoenix it would be a great place for a shorter commute to Downtown Phoenix. The western part of Glendale has historically been very rural and was sparsely populated, but when the construction boom settled in 2001 developments picked up at a rapid pace. The two sports arenas/stadiums are located here, along with up and coming shopping districts. The “Main Street” project, which is underway with all the permits obtained in the summer of ’06, is a new commercial district that will be developed on 500+/- acres, and is predicted to become Glendale’s new Downtown area. North Glendale is the most affluent of all areas, and is described by locals to be the “greenest part of Glendale and one of the greener parts of the Phoenix Metro area”, complete with Arrowhead Lake, Arrowhead Golf Resort and the city’s go-to shopping center, the Arrowhead Town Center.
